Sonic Trip Privacy Policy
Last updated: Oct 11, 2026
1. Who we are
Sonic Trip (“we”, “us”, “our”) runs the music download website at www.sonictrip.net, where you can buy and download tracks. This policy explains what personal information we collect, why we collect it, how we use it, and the choices you have.
We are the data controller for the personal information described here. If you have any questions, email us at djxs@sonictrip.net.
By using our website or buying from us, you acknowledge this policy. If you don’t agree with it, please don’t use the site.
2. Information we collect
We collect only what we need to run the store and deliver your purchases.
- Account details: your name, email address and password (stored in hashed form) if you create an account.
- Order details: the tracks you buy, order dates, amounts paid and your billing address.
- Payment information: handled by our payment providers, Stripe and PayPal. We do not see or store your full card number.
- Technical data: IP address, browser type, device type, pages visited and download timestamps.
- Communications: messages you send us, including support requests and emails to djxs@sonictrip.net.
- Marketing preferences: whether you’ve chosen to receive our newsletter or updates.
3. How and why we use your information
We use your information only for the reasons below. Where the GDPR or UK GDPR applies, the legal basis is shown in brackets.
- To process your order and deliver your download links (performance of a contract).
- To create and manage your account (performance of a contract).
- To take payment, keep financial records and meet tax and accounting duties (legal obligation).
- To answer your questions and provide support (legitimate interests).
- To prevent fraud, abuse and unauthorised sharing of downloaded files (legitimate interests).
- To keep the site secure and improve how it works (legitimate interests).
- To send you news and offers by email, only if you have opted in (consent). You can withdraw consent at any time.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use it for automated decisions that have legal effects on you.
4. Payments and sharing your information
We share personal information only with providers who help us run the site, and only as far as needed for them to do their job.
- Payment processors (Stripe and PayPal) take your payment under their own privacy policies.
- Our own server hosts the site, stores site data and delivers downloads. We run this ourselves, so this data isn’t passed to a separate hosting company.
- Our own mail server sends order confirmations and, if you opted in, our newsletter. We don’t use a third-party email service.
- Google Analytics helps us understand how the site is used. Google may process data such as your IP address and the pages you visit, under its own privacy policy.
- Professional advisers and authorities, such as accountants, or when the law requires us to disclose information.
If Sonic Trip is ever sold or merged, your information may transfer to the new owner, who must honour this policy. We do not sell your data to third parties.
5. Cookies
We use cookies, which are small files stored on your device, to make the site work and to understand how it is used.
- Essential cookies keep you logged in and remember your basket. The site can’t work without them.
- Analytics cookies show us which pages are popular. Google Analytics sets these, and only if you accept them.
- Third-party cookies may be set by payment providers when you check out.
You can accept or decline non-essential cookies in our cookie banner, and you can also block or delete cookies in your browser settings. Blocking essential cookies may stop purchases from working.
6. Download activity and file protection
We keep a record of when and from which IP address each purchased file is downloaded, and how many times. We use this to deliver your purchase, to spot suspicious activity such as links being shared, and to enforce our Terms and Conditions, which do not allow downloaded files to be redistributed.
We may also limit downloads per purchase and may embed order information in files to trace unauthorised copies. If we suspect misuse, we may suspend access to your account and keep the related records as long as needed to protect our rights.
7. Retention, security and international transfers
Retention. We keep order and invoice records for six years to meet tax and accounting rules. Account details are kept while your account is open and deleted within a reasonable time after you ask us to close it. Support emails are kept for up to two years. Newsletter details are kept until you unsubscribe.
Security. We use HTTPS, hashed passwords and access controls, and we choose providers with sound security practices. No online system is completely secure, so we can’t guarantee absolute security.
International transfers. Some of our providers, including Stripe, PayPal and Google, may process data outside your country, including outside the UK or EEA. Where they do, we rely on safeguards such as the European Commission’s standard contractual clauses or an adequacy decision.
8. Your rights, children, changes and contact
Your rights. Depending on where you live (including under the GDPR, UK GDPR and California law), you can ask us to:
- give you a copy of the personal information we hold about you
- correct information that is wrong
- delete your information, where we have no legal reason to keep it
- restrict or object to certain uses of your information
- hand over your information in a portable format
- stop sending you marketing at any time, using the unsubscribe link or by emailing us
Email djxs@sonictrip.net and we’ll reply within one month. We may need to confirm your identity first. We do not discriminate against anyone for exercising these rights.
Children. Our site is not meant for anyone under 16, and we do not knowingly collect their information. If you think a child has given us data, contact us and we will delete it.
Changes. We may update this policy from time to time. The date at the top shows when it last changed, and we’ll flag significant changes on the site.
Complaints. If you’re unhappy with how we handle your data, please contact us first. You also have the right to complain to your local data protection authority, for example the Data Protection Commission in Ireland or the Information Commissioner’s Office in the UK.
Contact. Sonic Trip, www.sonictrip.net, djxs@sonictrip.net.
